Pacifism and Non-violent resistance
![]() |
I am a pacifist, in case you are wondering that means I do not belive in violence for any reason. You may be thinking that is extreamely odd but many famous influencal people were pacifists here are just a few: Martin Luther King Jr,: He started the American civil rights movement and influenced millions. He also only planed and partivipated in non-violent actions. Dr. King never once during the course of his career advocated violence. Gandhi: Lead a national revolt in India, his actions eventually lead to the emancipation of India. He did all this without violence, he proved that a rebellion does not have to be violent. John Lennon: The leader of the Beatles also lead protests and bed-ins, he did it without violence, he influenced a generation for the better. Jesus Christ: Despite the impression you may get from some extreamest, many Christian such as myself know that Jesus told all of his followers to love and pray for their enemies. Even in death he advocated only peace, and in the process founded a major religion. Then theres: Henery David Thorue, Allan Ginsburg, Bob Dylan, and Dr. Benjamin Spock (the baby Dr.) So now your thinking so what can I do about wars, murders, or domestic violence. I tell you what to do orginize, join a non-violence group, start a group, hand out flyers, tell your family, start a web page, do something, do anything, just don't do nothing. And Remeber the words of John Lennon: "Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do; nothign to kill or die for.. Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope some day you'll join us and the world will live as one."
Vegitarianism Q & A: everything you need to know
![]() |
If your a new vegitarian or if your thinking about it, I have some somes answers for you. (if your question is not here mail me and I'll try to help) 1) Why? First beacause being a vegitarian is healthier, but more importantly because it's the right thing to do. Every day thosands of cows ar ekilled but they are not just killed. They are raised thier entire lives without enough room to move and they are injected with hormones, then when they are killed it is done brutally. Think about that next time you have a hamburger. 2) What is vegan? There are three types of vegitarians vegan, lacto, and lacto ovo, i'll try to give you the run down: vegan- no meat, no dairy, and no eggs, they eat nothing form animals. Next is lacto- they do not eat meat or eggs but they do eat dairy and honey(vegans don't eat it because it comes from bees). Finally lacto ovos - eat anything except for actual meat. 3) Does vegitarianism effect your health? YES! Most people who become vegitarians lose 5 to 10 pounds in the begining, plus it signifigantly lowers your cholestoral. 4) Am I too young to become a vegitarian? No, I was 15 when I became a vegitarian, I'm now 18. If your parents disagree with your disicion it may be harder, but no age is to young, some people are raised vegitarian from infancy. 6) Now that I'm a vegitarian what do I eat? There are a wide variety of meat substitutes and most of them are avalible at your local Acme (or other grocery store) Many of them are just as good or better then meat (hint: veggie bacon and hot dogs taste exactly the same even if the color is slightly diffrent) 7) Finally What is Tofu? Tofu is a soy bean curd that you can use to make anything, I like to use it to make Philly Cheese Steaks, it's great but the texture may turn some people off to be honest, but it is deffinatly somthing to try. Vegitarianism is not hard. It is a life altering dession but it is one of the best ones you can make, if you do decide to be a vegitarian go to your local library and check out some cook books. You will be surprised how many they have and how good the recipes can be.
